"The Ft. Clark Guest Quarters was
exactly what I needed. In fact the overall experience went
way beyond my hopes for those seven weeks. Of course the
actual facility and surroundings were wonderful.
Brackettville was a wonderful little community, and I
enjoyed everything there from the cafe food and the very
nice helpful library folks...to the July 4th parade. But
then beyond all that was Jay's self-described synergism,
which he does indeed somehow create! I'm mean really, not
one but two things that he caused ended up in my last
chapter, and beyond that was that he provided me with proof
of the farthest northwest record I've got for my Indigo
Snake distribution project. I certainly hope to come back!!"

History abounds on Fort Clark. On the first
outpost headquarters building of West Texas, this header-stone
reflects the era of Western military expansion. It was
the first West Texas frontier U.S. Cavalry outpost.
Across the green from Fort Clark Guest Quarters is the current
Headquarters and Administrative Offices. Anyone staying
at Fort Clark Guest Quarters may use the Fort Clark Golf Club,
also located just across the street.
Las Moras Springs is situated under centuries
old Live Oak trees, these natural springs feed into Texas'
third largest spring fed swimming pool. Las Moras Creek
flows through the Fort. It has walking trails along the
banks...and humungous fish.
